Ivy was 17 years old when she was on Canadian Idol's Season 3 (2005). That year, she auditioned in Sudbury, Ontario, and made it to the Top 100 in Toronto as one of only four contestants from Ottawa. On Day 2 of the Top 100 week in Toronto, otherwise known as "group day", Ivy sang with Canadian Idol Season 3 winner Melissa O'Neil!

IVY O
Born and raised in Ottawa, Ivy O is the daughter of two Vietnamese immigrants who were part of the Vietnamese Boat People movement.
Ivy completed her Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences degree, with a double major in Political Science (French Immersion) and Français Langue Seconde at the University of Ottawa in December 2010. As of April 2012, Ivy completed her second degree, a Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa.
Recognizing Ivy's love and talent for singing, her parents enrolled her at the Whitham School for the Performing Arts at the age of 10. Since then, Ivy has performed for various charities, community events in Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal, and was a Top 100 contender in season 3 of Canadian Idol.
Although a student first, she dreams to one day reach the world stage with her love for singing and acting.
A few highlights of her singing experience:
- Began singing at the age of ten
- Past accomplishments include: finishing first overall and being named “Most Outstanding Student” at the Youth Music Festival in Laval, Quebec – 1999; and winning first overall in the Youth Talent Contest at the Ottawa Ex in 2001 going on to represent Ottawa at the Youth Talent Nationals in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she was the youngest contestant in the Nationals at the age of 13
- Performed as part of a singing group for numerous telethons which included the Heart and Stroke Telethon and CHEO, and performed on various occasions at Ottawa's Super Ex, the Tulip Festival and the Teddy Bear's Picnic
- Participated in Season 3 of Canadian Idol (2005) and was one of only four competitors from Ottawa to make it to the Top 100 in Toronto
- Sang regularly for Liturgies, Remembrance Day Ceremonies, Coffee Houses, Christmas Variety Shows, Multicultural Shows, etc. for Notre Dame High School in Ottawa
- Performed at the National Library and Archives and the National Art Gallery for special events such as Citizenship ceremonies with Citizenship Judge Suzanne Pinel (television's Marie Soleil), and was invited to sing the Canadian National Anthem at the Ontario Liberal Party’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June 2008 at the Congress Centre, as well as for the opening of the Ottawa City Council meetings.
- Sings regularly for the Vietnamese and Chinese communities of Ottawa, Gatineau and Montreal (Vietnamese New Year Celebrations, Asian Heritage Month events, fundraisers, Gala events, Buddhist events at local Temples, etc.) as well as emceeing for the Chinese Community’s Annual New Year’s Variety Show in both official languages; further, she sang at the 2008 Beijing Olympics Reception at the National Library and Archives (May 2008)
- Performed with Dominic D'Arcy
- Performed for the University of Ottawa's Telfer School of Management's Commerce and Administration Student Charity Organization (CASCO) Gala event, which raises money for CHEO, in December of 2008, 2009, and 2010
- Performed for various University of Ottawa events such as the Vagina Monologues (March 2010), the International Gala (March 2010), the Opening Ceremonies for the "5 Days for the Homeless" campaign (March 2011), etc.
- Performed at the Nationals Arts Centre at the Four Seasons of Spring concert as part of Asian Heritage Month events (May 2012)
